What does it take to be happy? I can honestly say I don't know many people who are truly content with their life. I have yet to find the secret of devout satisfaction or a sincere individual who (without the help of happy pills or some type of drug) can say they are totally and completely happy. Maybe it’s the location I grew up in, or maybe this consistency can be found in the majority of places. We always want more, we give and give and don’t get enough back and the result is a lifetime of suffering or some sort of unfulfilled emptiness. Where is this theatrical happy ending? Is the human race being punished for decades of scam, war, malicious endeavors of hate, and a simple lack of love and respect for one another? We need to forget who and why and ask ourselves HOW? How can we be better? How can we improve our existence both individually and as a society? How can we live each day to the fullest and have a purpose rather than a meaningless 60-100 years of mundane survival. Lets hypothetically say the apocalypse happens. How pissed would we be?
I regret to admit, I don’t have any of these answers. I’m lost and scared and vulnerable. I’m young, naïve, and I’ve never fully been able to trust anyone other than myself. I do believe there is much more bad than good in the world. But through the clouds, there are always darker clouds, more rain, and eventually, when you least expect it, the sun.
I can offer you this insight. Take the world for what it is. No one really knows why we’re here or what happens when we’re gone or exactly how long we have to be here. We have our theories and our individual religions to help fill in the gaps but in the end religion is just a theory, based on stories passed down from generation to generation and exploding with a lack of scientific evidence. However, we do know that things happen for a reason and most importantly, I like to believe we were all born for a reason. As cliché as it sounds, we all have a destiny to find what it is that makes us happy. Perhaps the words happiness and the concept of balance have a symbiotic link, one in which happiness occurs as a result of complete balance in all areas of life, or rather the existence of equivalent fulfillment in each sector of existence. Relationships including family, friends, lovers, and significant others must be in direct equivalence to success, money, and health.
In order for our bodies to sustain homeostasis, they must be balanced, and I believe the same is true for each of our lives. Maybe if we find that balance through trial and error or simply taking chances and risks we can attempt to achieve a steady equilibrium. People always say, don’t be scared to try new things. Be a “yes man” as opposed to a downer who says no to every new opportunity the universe sends them.

Welcome to the LK Lifestyle.

What exactly is an LK Lifestyle? For starters, its a journey fully equipped with the chaos and drama of being a twenty-two-year old girl. The search for life’s greater meanings. The pursuit towards the ultimate gate of success, happiness, and all around good living. The seeking out of inspiration. The hunt for finding your passions and exceeding your own expectations. Optimization of self. A guide for the lonely, the bored, and the lacking. We are all here to help each other, learn from each other and grow as a society towards something better. This blog will discuss topics that may be too controversial or taboo for some, but to be scandalous is to be exciting, and we could all use a little more excitement.
I grew up in a place where an abundance of boredom and money conquered people’s perceptions of normal. Every kid I grew up with had a therapist by 18. Adderall, or the near chemical equivalent to speed became the most popularly prescribed drug of my peers, and being productive without it was left to the sole few that still had the gift of self-motivated concentration. To read more about the dangers of adderall visit. Anxiety and panic attacks, while once were subject to ridicule and highly unmentioned, became a commonality experienced so often that 4.0 honor students became highly-addictive pill poppers. The 60’s and 70’s may be associated with drugs, peace and love, and everything merry and colorful, but the world we live in today is much different, much scarier, and way less bright. My plan is to help people find the colors the world has seemed to have lost or at the least offer a fresh perspective and simple rules to live by.
My Random BUT RELEVANT thoughts for today:
1. Surround yourself with good people. Studies show a person’s mood is highly affected by the atmosphere they submerge themselves in. Now I am a realist. I can be negative if the situation calls for a foreseeable bad outcome. However, there are those people who should be immediately flagged as “downers.” These “downers” should be avoided at all costs. Being best friends with someone who never wants to leave the house, or enjoys sulking in their own misery and bringing the world down with them must be AVOIDED. You can’t change others. Don’t try too hard, but you can always change yourself.
2. Green tea. Cancer is in everything. Try to have at least a cup of green tea a day and you will not only feel and look better, you will help to prevent life threatening sicknesses. Don’t hesitate to read up about the endless green tea benefits i.e. http://chinesefood.about.com/library/weekly/aa011400a.htm.
3. It could always be worse. No matter how terrible-awful-no good-very bad of a day you’re having, there always is someone suffering more than you. There is always a single mom, working three jobs, who’s husband passed away last year and can’t afford to feed her 3 children and has no living family to support her. Remember that.
